Entry: Paul Simon Monday, May 15, 2006

With his first new album in six years now in stores, legendary singer/songwriter Paul Simon is ready to back the set with some high-profile television appearances and a round of summer tour dates.
Simon has rolled out an itinerary that features stops in a dozen US cities and one Canadian performance, all of which are confined to the month of July. So far, all of the engagements are single shows, with the exception of Atlantic City, NJ, where a two-night stand is scheduled. Details are shown below.
On Tuesday (5/9), Simon offered up "Surprise," an 11-song album he co-produced with Brian Eno (Roxy Music, David Bowie). Simon and Eno also co-wrote three of the new songs.
"Working with Brian Eno opens the door to a world of sonic possibilities," Simon said in a statement, "plus he's just a great guy to hang with in the studio, or for that matter in life. I had a really good time."
Simon recorded the disc at Eno's studio in London, as well as at studios in New York and Nashville. The set includes the Oscar-nominated track "Father and Daughter," which first turned up on the 2002 soundtrack for the film "The Wild Thornberrys." The full track listing is posted at Simon's website.
This Friday (5/12), Simon will perform on ABC's "Good Morning America," and will follow that up with an appearance as the musical guest on this weekend's episode of "Saturday Night Live."
